The Exterminator-Blu Ray Release

Hello All,
Well i have been fortunate enough to see a preview copy of the Blu Ray release from Arrow Video of The Exterminator and i have to say that you are in for a real treat!
As you come to expect from Arrow it's packed full of great stuff including an awesome poster,  I must say that i first saw this years ago and it had completely fell from my radar but upon seeing it again all the memories came back, i remember seeing it on Intervision on the good old VHS years back with the great cover art depicting The Exterminator and his flame thrower in full effect(i know I'm showing my age) and everyone at the time at school was talking about it, in particular the bit where a guy gets put through a huge mincemeater, i kid you not!
So it was the talk of the school and we rented it out many many times, Now onto the Blu-Ray release, The clean up of the print is great, not 100% shiny shiny so it still maintains much of it's grind house kind of feel, The story is one which seemed very common around this era, a Vietnam Vet returns only to have everything he fought for thrown back in his face and face the harsh reality of that day's scum bags, needless to say as with, Deathwish, First Blood etc he does NOT take it lying down, Great stuff. And you will be able to own it from Monday the 7th of November!
The feel of the film is very much of the time and that what makes it great in my opinion, a definite welcome re-release packed full of extras and remastered greatly, so kick back, open a beer and prepare to be Exterminated (sorry that last bit was cheesy)
8/10 Jonny T.

Details of the release!

THE MAN THEY PUSHED TOO FAR.

Notorious at the time of its original 1980 theatrical release for its shockingly real decapitation sequence and other scenes of graphic violence, The Exterminator comes to Blu-ray for the first time in the UK boasting a host of extra features that include an introduction to the film by director by James Glickenhaus (McBain: The Protector) and an audio commentary by the film’s producer, Mark Buntzman (Love Kills; Exterminator 2). Retaining much of its power to shock to this day, this classic vigilante action-thriller stars Robert Ginty (Coming Home), Samantha Eggar (The Astronaut’s Wife; The Phantom; The Brood) and Christopher George (City Of The Living Dead).
John Eastland (Ginty) has been to Vietnam and he’s seen things... things you wouldn’t believe. Having survived a torture ordeal and witnessed the brutal deaths of his friends, he returns home to a tough neighbourhood in New York and his loving family. But when some local thugs take a dislike to his best friend Mike, leaving him paralysed, something snaps in Eastland. Did he fight the Vietcong for this?
Taking the law into his own hands, the former marine sets out to clean the streets of every low-life, good-for-nothing gangbanger, mobster and ghetto ghoul across the city in a savage orgy of vigilante vengeance.

The Exterminator (cert. 18) will be released on Blu-ray (£24.99) by ARROW VIDEO on 7th November 2011.
