NOIRMAGEDDON-A Mark Anvil Thriller

Hello people!
Jonny T here, Bringing you my thoughts on the new film from the hardest working man in indie films, Thomas Berdinski!
His new feature is called NOIRMAGEDDON-A Mark Anvil Thriller, well what can i say, it's great!
After Thomas's first features The Italian Zombie Movie Parts 1&2 and then followed up by the great The Giant Rubber Monster Movie i kind of knew what to expect in terms of humour, gore and great production and i can tell you i wasn't one bit disappointed, The films plot goes as follows:-
"Private Investigator Mark Anvil gets way more than he bargained for when a chance encounter with an escapee from a local insane asylum leads to a brutal murder and maybe, the end of the world!"
So if you have seen any of Berdinski's work before you will know what to expect from the get go and if not you really should!

The film starts with the asylum escapee running down the road whilst we see Mark Anvil driving in his car (which is a super cool car by the way) and hearing reports of the said escapee on the radio, he stops to pick her up then away we go, They then make there way to a seedy part of town where the escapee gets brutally murdered and i mean brutally! From then on in Mark Anvil heads around town coming across some of the most insane characters you will EVER see including a great fight scene with a Mexican style wrestler, we also get a Shark attack a human centipede, oh and did i mention a slow motion pie fight and all in the space of the running time of 22 minutes!

Now not taking anything at all away from his great earlier work but i personally feel that this is his best work to date, both in terms of looks(filmed totally in black and white) the FX look great and the dialogue at times is hilarious and something that Tarantino would be proud of, yes folks it's that good.So if you have or have not seen his previous work you really should check out this and his other features, can't wait to see what he comes up with next, i mean, Italian Zombies to Giant rubber monsters on to Film noir, Berdinski could easily be seen as the modern day Roger Corman,
9/10 Jonny T.

The House-Comes to DVD.

Hello Folks,
As you know we over here LOVE our Asian horror and today i bring you news of a fantastic looking  Thai Horror  coming to the UK on DVD on 4th June. Directed by Monthon Arayangkoon and starring the fabulous Inthira Chaloenpura this looks like it could be up there with some of the best asian horrors, I've stuck the details below and watch this space for my review coming soon!
Enjoy,
Jonny T.

This ghostly whodunit is a tour-de-force of supernatural shocks and gruesome gore.

Inspired by true stories, this is a gory, stylish and shock-laden Thai horror movie that ranks alongside “The Eye” and “Shutter” as one of the finest examples of the genre.

Synopsis:
Commissioned to work on a documentary concerning a notorious murder case from six years ago, investigative TV journalist Shalinee (Chaloenpura) uncovers some bizarre connections and similarities between that murder and two others, the first of which occurred over 40 years ago. In all three instances, the murderers were proven to be doctors who had brutally murdered their wife, girlfriend or lover in a fit of jealous, passionate rage. But were the similarities in each case merely examples of tragic coincidence or something more sinister?
Although unable to uncover the vital clues required to solve the puzzle, Shalinee’s research reveals, significantly, that all those involved in the murders had, at one time over the years, lived in the same house near to a local medical institute. Despite several warnings from a few fearful and superstitious people living in the neighbourhood, Shalinee decides to play a visit to the building in question to see it for herself. What she finds there is more frightening than she could ever have imagined – a dark and shocking revelation that drags her ever deeper into the mystery of the house.

Osombie Review By Gavin Jennings!

Osombie (2012)
Whilst working the night shift in our local Tesco (other supermarkets are available!) myself and Emma T, the better half of Jonny T from cult films, had a genuine WTF moment browsing the latest DVD releases on the entertainment aisle. Before us was the unbelievably titled ‘Osombie’. A horror film in which the infamous terrorist and 9/11 plotter comes back from the dead to munch on infidel brains! I was initially outraged as to who would think up such shit and even pondered the possibility that maybe Tom Six of Human Centipede fame had shifted his focus from Ass to Osama. Emma on the other hand was thinking of reasons not to buy it. She did of course, and as a result Jonny has asked me to review the disc for the blog. With the potential comedy value of such an outrageous premise high on my mind and the children at school my wife and I were looking forward to seeing Osombie. With a bag of chips on our laps and cups of tea at hand we settled into 90 minutes of politically incorrect fun.
Amazingly enough it isn’t that bad! In fact the action-packed opening is quite good! For the most part the actors aren’t too horrendous; the zombie make up is okay and the story, albeit controversial isn’t the films main problem. What lets Osombie down is the fact that it isn’t much fun. The film should have been a perfect ending to a Friday night down the pub with your mates and a good curry but instead ends up on the save it for a rainy day pile. A lot of this is down to the fact that dead Laden is a bit part in his own movie. Aside from the beginning and brief appearance at the end he is nowhere to be seen. It’s little more than a cameo which is such a shame. Maybe the film makers toned things down to keep it decent? I would have loved too see him picking his way through US soldiers in true 80’s exploitation fashion instead of the bizarre slow-mo sword fight porn that is in it’s place. Too be fair though the good guys don’t need Osombie as they are more than capable of shortening their numbers by themselves. Anybody who chooses to fend off zombie insurgents topless deserves to die in my book!

Ultimately Osombie feels like a missed opportunity. It succeeds at being a painfully average exploitation film and a better than expected budget horror which will fail to excite fans of either genre. Had the creators gone all out and produced a film that lived up to the risqué concept I would have had a lot more respect for them…

The Woman in black-Reviewed.

Harry Potter in a classic ghost story from Hammer,Whats the bloody hell is that going to be like? I thought it would be terrible, i couldn't have been more wrong, it's great!!
Coming from the original story from surprisingly 1983(i thought it was a lot older) by Susan Hill it has been adapted to stage and screen many a time over the years with a great adaptation for TV by ITV in 1989 which is also a version well worth tracking down with the screenplay done by the legendary Nigel Kneale of Quartermass fame.
It was originally brought to the stage in 1987 in the small town of Scarborough then after a hugely successful run and much acclaim by critics it was taken to the west end of London in 1989 and still plays there to this day as well as many other stage productions that continue to run around the world.
The basic story tells of Aurthur Kipps(Daniel Radcliffe) who is taking care of his 4 year old son Joseph Kipps(played by Misha Handley who is Daniel's real life godson) and struggling both financially and emotionally after the death of his wife, he is also plagued by visions of her. His job is a solicitor and He is offered a job to handle the estate of deceased lady Alice Drablon and sort out the finances and inheritance of her Manor house, Eel marsh house. The house is located on an island that gets cut off at night due to tidal rises, this sets the theme to make it even creepier at night and adds greatly to this classic tale.

Now my thoughts................
As i said when i first heard this was being made and being a fan of the source material and the great TV adaptation by ITV i was more than a Little sceptical but i could not have been more, within 5 minutes i had completely forgot that Radcliffe had been anywhere near a Harry Potter film, he has come on greatly as an actor in my opinion, it had the feel of a real old school Hammer film with the atmosphere, location, costumes, soundtrack and top notch scares and acting, If Hammer continue in this form i really can't wait to see what they have up there sleeve, did i mention that it also makes you jump like hell, something i have not seen successfully done in a horror movie for a long time.
It was originally planned to be shot in 3D but was scrapped, thank god, this achieves more in 2D than most do in 3D, Now to say this was a box office success would be and understatement, with the budget at $151, it raked in a cool $126 million! and is the most successful British horror film in 20 years, so with that box office return hopefully it will be pumped back in to some more future Hammer classics to match the old school classics, bring 'um on!
A very solid 8/10

Hotel Transylvania, looks great!

Hello people!
Jonny T checking in with a new post/ quick look at the upcoming Hotel Transylvania, now i am a HUGE fan of the original Universal Monsters but the storyline of Hotel Transylvania reflects modern day society's lack of love for the old time ghouls and gals, So they all decide to move in together and live for eternity in Hotel Transylvania, OK so it's yet another animated feature but as horror fans I'm sure we will all get some kicks from it and I'm sure its bound to have a ton of in jokes plus it also features Bigfoot, what more could you want!
I've stuck some pictures i have found below along with the trailer, roll on September!
